This is a garden centre. It also specializes in orchids & anthuriums. Main clients are florists, hotels and organizers of conferences/seminars including recent UNCTAD meeting held in Accra. The loan is to be used to order seedlings and irrigation equipment for this 1.5 acre flower farm with another 10 acres available for expansion later.

2. Nagawa’s Children’s Palace

This is a day care centre and youth resource centre (yrc). There is no known yrc in Accra. The yrc will offer after school activities including music, sports, tutoring and language classes. Music classes will be offered by students of the music department of the University of Ghana. This will offer much needed part-time work to music students from the university and in turn they will act as role models to the youth at the yrc. The loan is for expansion, to purchase a variety of necessities including computers, sports equipment and for rent advance for a larger space.

This canteen offers local dishes to workers in an area where there is a high population of construction and low-income workers. The loan is for expansion of the present location and for rent advance of a new canteen in another area of town where her clientele will also be construction and low-income workers.

5. Prime Foods

Production of Garri Mix. Garri is a traditional ‘cereal’ but Prime Foods has elevated it by mixing with soya milk and sugar. Garri is grated cassava (manioc), parched and eaten as a carbohydrate with a sauce or as a quick cereal – mainly by students and low-income workers. The loan is to purchase materials and equipment to produce more of her products because of the increasing demand from her regular customers and now from shops.

This is a building materials business located in an area where there is a lot of building construction going on. This is very convenient for builders particularly since the Accra traffic is impossible with most building materials outlets located several miles away from where her store is.
